It's Here! It's Here!

I am so excited right now! Last night the UPS man stopped by and left a cool little package... a book. But not just any book. This book:

The Art Journals & Creative Healing book! Yup, and there's my work, all shiny and pretty on pages 86-87. Teehee! The journaling in the peach box is the "my story" behind the shoe.

I know I mentioned a while back about being in a book, but now I can finally share what was in the book. It's a shoe that I made a couple years back. Yup, a shoe, and no I didn't actually MAKE the shoe, I altered it a wee bit. Haha. Many of you know that I can't wear heals, dang RA, but I love high heals and admire them from afar. Then one day I found this cool pair at a thrift store and decided to play. I turned it into a mini journal by creating an insole that slips into the shoe, and can be pulled out with a small red ribbon tab.

Inside I talk about my secret love for high heals and how I finally overcame my bare foot insecurities.

The sole of the shoes has this cool little quote I found that says "Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world."

As for the book, it's fantastic! I am amazed with the talent and openness of the artists that contributed. They really bared their souls for the world to see. This book is about how to create healing journals, hence the subtitle "Restoring The Spirit Through Self Expression", but I found the read alone inspiring on an emotional level. They have really hit a wide range of issues, from rape, hurricanes and divorce to weight issues, finances and illness. These women have created journals of all shapes and sizes to help themselves move forward. Not only do you get a glimpse into their work, you get to see a side that we can all relate to. I believe that everyone would benefit from this book, and not because I'm in it... HA! but because as I slowly make my way through each page and story, I am moved and inspired. I can relate to things I didn't think possible. I can truly say I am blessed and honored to be amongst the pages of these amazing stories. Thank you so much Sharon for inviting me to be a part of your beautiful book. And to all the contributers, you ladies did an amazing job!

If you are interested in this book by the talented Sharon Soneff (creator of Sonnets scrapbook line), it's on sale at HERE right now!

I just did a search and found these two reviews about the book... they are worth reading as they are more descriptive than I about the purpose of the book!

Hi Danea! I linked to your blog from Sharon's. She raved about the talent of all the contributors in her book (I am still anxiously waiting for my copy) and so I wanted to see the blogs of as many of them as I can. Your shoe is awesome! I love the creativity. I also loved your layouts. You are an amazingly talented lady. I am honored to "share space" with you in the same publication... And it makes it even better that it is Sharon's... She is absolutely the niciest person I know on this planet.

Hugs!
Karan

Unbelievable!!!
My fiance bought me this book for Christmas 2008 and I am currently reading it, nearly at the end (I don't want to get to the last page!)
It is my bed book, the one I curl up with last thing!
I read your page recently and remember being soooo delighted with it, it made me smile so much. I can't wear nice shoes either, you see, due to arthritis and to fallen arches and pronounced heels. I have to wear orthotics and this means flat, comfy, totally unsexy footwear!!!
So I totally oozed over your pages in this book!

If you go to my blog for Feb 3rd 09 you'll see me recommending this book!!!

WOW! Good grief! I never expected to stumble across your blog...

THANKS!
